State Sales Taxes Coming After E-Commerce

A clear line in the sand has been drawn in the battle between states and online retailers who sell across state borders with out having to pay sales tax in those other states. So where is this line in the sand that is e-commerce? Right now it resides in the states of Rhode Island and North Carolina as both states have proposed and will most likely be passing new e-commerce sales tax laws. Amazon.com has given a clear response to both states as they have terminated the contracts of all affiliates that reside in either of those states. Ouch! It suddenly became clear that being an affiliate online may not be all that it’s cracked up to be as a new day seems to be on the horizon for sales taxes and e-commerce.
